Woke up today exactly at the alarm blast at 6:30am and the first thing that crept into my mind as I rubbed my eyes was her and the next immediate thing that leapt to my mind and registered was the fact its a Friday that we're actually going diving tomorrow! Absolutely amazing, since:-
1) I can't swim
2) We'll probably make a mess of things like we usually do when we're together while laughing at ourselves
3) We're living our lives starting with item one on our DL list (This is definitely the most exciting reason!)
In order to prepare ourselves, I have decided to pain stakingly decided to rewrite our emergency procedures just to practice in my mind what to expect tomorrow and how best to eliminate first time jitters.
Procedure Numero Uno: Breathing
Now, all divers know that in order for a living breathing human to dive, that human has to constantly breathe and never hold breathe while submerged under water unless you're Ariel of the Little Mermaid or people from Atlantis. Thats pretty easy to do once you have an oxygen tank/cylinder in place. But the main question is, what do you do if you accidently run out of air or what if my baby decides to tease me by running off and mocking me?
Thanks to the PADI instruction manual, I have devised new methods of surviving and to be able to constantly kiss my baby for a lifetime. There are several procedures when the main tank runs out of air, but the most effective is of course using the
Now, what exactly is the pony tank? The manual describes the "pony tank" as a secondary source of air which most people will assume looks like this...
But, the truth could not be further. The "pony tank" is actually (cue X-Files music)...
Yes, the "pony tank" is actually a pony fish. My baby was also confused with the truth behind this shocking discovery. Instead of reaching for the emergency release on the so-called triangle formed by your chin and the end of your rib cages, in the instance of an emergency, the best survival method is to actually reach for the "pony tank" otherwise known as the "pony fish" as illustrated above.
The "pony fish" are elusive creatures that swim around in tropical waters and since we're doing a dive in a confined space which is not their natural habitat, decided to drop by Jusco with EvilJanet tonight to buy some. Heard they get cranky and can send electric shockwaves through airwaves so will probably store them in the waching machine. I feel so privileged to be able to help my baby prepare her most important diving equipment :) But this definitely has got to go down as one of the most important equipments in the history of diving.
Procedure Secundo: Environmental Interaction
Another important experience of the dive is to always be calm while diving and when interacting with the environment. Some of the most exotic sightings are of the underwater flora and fauna. The only danger of flora is that we need not panic even when entangled by seaweed as long as we stay calm and work our way out. But how about violent sea creatures such as elves?
To demonstate this, most of us have the understanding that sea animals such as sharks look like this most of the time...
In actual fact, sea animals are actually like this...
Unlike evil myths by the movie Jaws, the sea animals are actually harmless. Our instructor even told us that the sea animals are more afraid of us. In fact, I'm even more afraid of EvilJanet biting me in the waters :P But in case of meeting aggressive sea creatures in the water, the best remedy or approach is to actually gently approach and comfort them. Yes, this is true. Like in the case of my baby, what I would actually do is carefully approach lets say a biting shark or deranged dolphin from a blind angle and subtly hold the shark in one place while my baby quietly sneaks up and tickles the raging sea creature into submission. Maybe the tamed creature will allow my baby to ride her. Like the saying goes, what my baby wants my baby gets.
Being as our exercise tomorrow will also be in a confined water space, the only practice my baby and me will ever get in dealing with aggressive sea creatures is if we can approach our instructor and quietly subdue him with this approach. Keeping my fingers crossed for a successful maneuveur. With that, that wraps up the key pointers for staying alive and enjoying our diving experience to the full which simply energizes me to keep loving her in this experience as well.
Saying that, we really love the weekends and I can't wait to actually dive for real. I wish I could hold her hand in the depths of the ocean with walls of fish, the beauty of the sea behind us and just us. We've been waiting for this for so long and we're taking real steps to our forever one step at a time. With her, I'm really smiling and living life. I hope I can be her life for a lifetime like she is to me. Walking with her another Friday, another week, can you almost smell forever?
PS. Bie, I love you today and lets see this world under the waters together. I just want you no matter what space, what time and no matter if its under the sea.
